Special concert in Vientiane promotes Vietnam-Laos friendship

VOV.VN - The National Stadium in Vientiane was illuminated on the evening of January 9 as the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Concert, a large-scale cultural event, celebrated the deep ties between the two countries.

The event marked a tribute from the Party, State, and people of Vietnam to the Party, State, and people of Laos, commemorating the 12th National Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and the 105th birth anniversary of Lao President Kaysone Phomvihane.

The concert was held by Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with Laos’ Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos, under the guidance and attention of senior leaders from both countries. It emphasised Vietnam’s strong, comprehensive support for Laos’ revolutionary path and ongoing development efforts.

The event was attended by prominent leaders, including Thongloun Sisoulith, General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and President of Laos, with his spouse; Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone with his spouse; members of the Lao Politburo and Central Committee; and heads of key ministries and agencies. The Vietnamese side was represented by Nguyen Van Hung, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Ambassador Nguyen Minh Tam.

More than 15,000 spectators, including local residents and Vietnamese expatriates in Laos filled the stadium, creating a vibrant sea of flags and lights.

In his opening remarks, Minister Hung highlighted the unique, enduring, and exemplary nature of Vietnam-Laos bilateral relations, describing them as a rare model of loyalty and friendship in the world. He noted that the language of art would honour the achievements of the Lao Party, State, and people.

The concert marks a new milestone reinforcing trust, solidarity, and mutual support between the two countries, emphasising culture as a continuous “red thread” strengthening this special bond, he said.

The concert featured three acts, seamlessly unfolding in emotional and visual narratives. Act 1, “Truong Son – The Source of Unity”, revisited historical moments of solidarity between the two nations through music and film. Act 2, “Colours of Champa – Golden Lotus”, showcased the cultural heritage and natural beauty of Laos, along with the rich landscapes of Vietnam. Act 3, “One Future”, highlighted contemporary, vibrant music, reflecting the aspirations of both nations in the modern era.

The production’s scale and meticulous design left a strong impression on audiences of all ages. Spectators at the stadium and those following the live broadcast experienced a high-level artistic spectacle, enhanced by multidimensional LED screens and advanced 3D mapping technology.

The majestic Truong Son Mountain Range was vividly recreated, while images of blooming lotus and Champa flowers floated dynamically, captivating viewers.

The Vietnam-Laos Friendship Concert was not only a cultural celebration marking the success of Laos’ 12th Party Congress but also a testament to the vitality and resilience of the Vietnam-Laos special relationship in the new era.
