Son Tung M-TP teams up with Tyga for Vietnamese culture-infused music video
VOV.VN -Vietnamese singer Son Tung M-TP on May 28 released his new music video Come My Way, an international collaboration with Vietnamese American rapper Tyga.
The music video attracted millions of views on YouTube within hours of its release and quickly became a talking point on social media, aided by its distinctive sound and strong cultural imagery.
Come My Way is an English-language track co-written by Son Tung M-TP and producer Marvey Muzique, with lyrics also contributed by Marvey Muzique and Tyga. The song centres on the pursuit of love.
Built on an Afrobeats foundation blended with hip-hop and contemporary pop, the track draws on international music trends. Tyga's appearance has also drawn widespread attention.
Directed by Phuong Vu and produced by creative collective AntiantiArt, the music video relies on symbolic imagery rather than a conventional narrative, incorporating Vietnamese cultural elements through a modern visual approach.
One of the video's most striking images is the Lac bird, a symbol associated with the Dong Son bronze drums, which appears against the backdrop of Los Angeles.
A mask inspired by the traditional Xuan Pha dance of Thanh Hoa province also serves as a central visual element in the project's promotional campaign.
The video further incorporates cultural references including Ly Dynasty dragon motifs, the jade buffalo symbol, the An Giang cattle-racing festival and choreography inspired by Vietnamese folk traditions.
Footage of Trang An Landscape Complex in Ninh Binh province, a UNESCO World Heritage site, also appears in the production.
In 2019, Son Tung M-TP collaborated with rapper Snoop Dogg on the song Hay Trao Cho Anh (Give It to Me), which featured Vietnamese-language lyrics.
Come My Way is seen as Son Tung M-TP's latest effort to bring his personal brand to international markets.
