Singing contest for Vietnamese expats worldwide launched

VOV.VN - The debut version of a Vietnamese-language singing contest for overseas Vietnamese people around the globe was introduced to the public at a press conference in Hanoi on October 11.

The contest is expected to connect Vietnamese people worldwide and raise awareness of the country's culture, according to the organisers Unicorn Vietnam.

It will open to Vietnamese nationals aged above 16 and will be divided into three categories - light music, folk music, and bolero. The winner of each category will receive a cash prize of VND300 million.

Furthermore, the winners will also have the chance to perform in different domestic and foreign music shows.

The first edition of the contest will be held in Europe where the organisers have received registrations from contestants in France, Germany, the Czech Republic, and Bulgaria.

The semi-final round is slated to be held in mid-November in Europe, whilst the final night is scheduled to take place at the Saigon Opera House in Ho Chi Minh City in late December.

The judge panel will consist of many celebrities, including singers Thu Minh, Quang Le, Bang Kieu, Ho Quang Tam, Duong Trieu Vu, Trang Nhung, journalist Ngo Ba Luc, along with young singers To My and Khanh Du.
