Paris 2024 Olympics conductor Zahia Ziouani to perform in HCM City
VOV.VN - A concert featuring French conductor Zahia Ziouani, who conducted at the closing ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, will take place in Ho Chi Minh City on April 19, highlighting Vietnam–France cultural exchange through classical music.
The Debussy & Ravel concert will introduce performances by pianist Luu Hong Quang and the Ho Chi Minh City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera (HBSO). It forms part of ongoing cultural cooperation and artistic exchange between the two countries.
The programme will showcase masterpieces by two renowned French composers, Maurice Ravel and Claude Debussy, alongside a Vietnamese contemporary work. The concert will open with “Ai Chi Lang” by composer Tran Manh Hung, performed in Vietnam for the first time. This will be followed by Maurice Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G major and “Boléro,” and will conclude with Claude Debussy’s “La Mer.”
Zahia Ziouani, 48, is a prominent figure in the French and international classical music scene, widely recognised for her expressive and emotionally rich conducting style. She is the founder of the Divertimento Symphony Orchestra and has spent more than 25 years using music as a tool to connect, inspire, and engage communities.
She gained wider international recognition when she conducted the Divertimento Symphony Orchestra during the closing ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Prior to the HCM City performance, the artist conducted a similar concert in Hanoi on April 11.
