Paris 2024 Olympics conductor Zahia Ziouani to perform in Vietnam
VOV.VN - French conductor Zahia Ziouani, who performed at the closing ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, will hold two special concerts in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in the coming weeks.
The concerts, organised at the invitation of the French Institute in Vietnam, will feature performances with the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra (VNSO) and the Ho Chi Minh City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera (HBSO).
A prominent figure on the French and international classical music scene, Ziouani is known for her delicate and emotionally rich conducting style. As the founder of the Divertimento Symphony Orchestra, she has spent more than 25 years placing music at the centre of her work to connect, inspire and bring communities together.
She gained wider international recognition when she conducted the Divertimento Symphony Orchestra during the closing ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
In Hanoi, the conductor will collaborate with the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra to present a programme combining the elegant classical style of Joseph Haydn through Symphony No. 92 “Oxford”, the delicate poetic sound world of Claude Debussy through “Petite Suite”, and the dramatic power of Georges Bizet through Suite No. 1 and No. 2.
As part of her visit, Ziouani will also lead intensive orchestral conducting workshops at the Vietnam National Academy of Music and the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music, alongside interacting with audiences following screenings of the film Divertimento.
The activities aim to create opportunities for artists and audiences to meet, exchange ideas and experience music as a vibrant, universal and deeply engaging language.
The performance will take place at 8 p.m. on April 11 at the Vietnam National Academy of Music at 77 Hao Nam Street, Hanoi.
