Original Opera Carmen to be revived on Hanoi stage in April
VOV.VN - The world-famous opera Carmen, composed by Georges Bizet, will be magnificently brought to life on stage in Hanoi this April which is expected to captivate audiences with its passionate melodies and dramatic storytelling.

The opera is scheduled to be staged at the Ho Guom Theatre on April 24-25, according to the Vietnam Technology and Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Techcombank), the main organizer of the two shows.
Unlike many versions previously performed worldwide, Carmen at the Ho Guom Theater this time will faithfully recreate the original 1875 production - from stage design and costumes to sound and setting, said Thai Minh Diem Tu, marketing director at Techcombank.
Revived by the Royal Opera of Versailles, the Palazzetto Bru Zane - – Centre de Musique Romantique Française, and the Rouen Normandy Opera House, the performance will bring Vietnamese audiences to 19th-century Seville, Spain, where Carmen, the symbol of passion, freedom, and individuality, is told in its purest original spirit.
Set in 19th-century Spain, Carmen tells the story of a free-spirited gypsy woman who captivates the soldier Don Jose, leading to a tragic tale of love, jealousy, and fate. The opera, once controversial for its themes of rebellion and passion, has since become a masterpiece beloved worldwide.
This year, Vietnam will be the first destination in Southeast Asia to stage the full original version of this masterpiece, promising local audiences a world-class and exclusive artistic experience, on par with performances at the world’s greatest theaters.
A representative of the organizing committee stated that the arrival of the original Carmen in Vietnam, marking the 150th anniversary of this immortal masterpiece, is not only an event of international significance but also a rare opportunity for the Vietnamese public to experience the pinnacle of global artistry.
