Nha Trang residents experience historical moments through VR technology
VOV.VN -The interactive program "Return to the Sacred Moment" will take place at 2/4 Square in Nha Trang ward, Khanh Hoa province from October 24 to 26, offering residents and tourists a virtual reality (VR) experience of Ba Dinh Square on September 2, 1945.
Directed by Voice of Vietnam (VOV), the event is organized by VTC News online newspaper in collaboration with the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT). Wearing VR headsets, participants step into historic Ba Dinh Square, joining crowds looking toward the dais as President Ho Chi Minh reads the Declaration of Independence, founding the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
Rather than learning about the event solely through books or documentary films, visitors observe the historic atmosphere through an immersive perspective, feeling as though they are present during the nation's milestone moment.
"Return to the Sacred Moment" first debuted in Hanoi on the occasion of the 80th National Day anniversary in 2025, attracting over 35,000 visits. The journey subsequently expanded to various localities, including Quang Ninh, the Kim Lien Special National Relic Site in Nghe An, Independence Palace in Ho Chi Minh City, and APEC Park in Da Nang. In 2026, the program recorded over 8,000 visits at Independence Palace (August 19-21) and over 5,000 in Da Nang (September 2-4). Most recently, it drew more than 3,000 participants at Hanoi Book Street on October 10-11 before arriving in Nha Trang.
VOV Vice General Director Ngo Minh Hien noted that the program demonstrates VOV's innovation in developing media products. He emphasized that the value lies not only in attendance numbers but in evocative emotions that nurture national pride and offer younger generations more opportunities to learn about history.
Images of September 2, 1945 are recreated through technology in virtual space, but the core value is still helping the public gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the moment that opened a new chapter in national history.
