National forum promotes innovation in cultural and tourism industries
VOV.VN - Policymakers, experts and business leaders gathered at a national forum in Hanoi on June 25 to emphasise the urgent need for innovation in Vietnam’s cultural and tourism industries.

The gathering attracted the participation of more than 100 delegats, including representatives from ministries, universities, creative enterprises, international organisations, and startups in the fields of culture, tourism, and technology.
Held amid a rapidly changing landscape, the forum focused on helping the cultural and tourism indsutries adapt to the digital era, meet new audience demands, and develop fresh approaches to heritage management and promotion.
Discussions highlighted key themes such as the development of cultural products linked to heritage, the use of virtual reality to enhance tourism experiences, innovative models at heritage sites, and lessons from international cultural industry practices. A highlight was the high-level panel titled “Tripartite Linkage in Developing the Innovation Ecosystem in Culture and Tourism,” fostering strategic cooperation between the government, academia, and businesses.
A new feature of this year’s forum was an innovation exhibition, showcasing digital cultural products, interactive platforms, and digital transformation solutions from universities and tech startups in education, tourism, and media.
Prof. Dr. Tu Thi Loan, director of the Thang Long Institute of Cultural Studies noted that while Vietnam has the components of an innovation ecosystem, it lacks coordinated connection and synchronisation. She stressed the importance of supportive policies, skilled human resources, and digital infrastructure to maximise impact through cross-sector collaboration.
Meanwhile, Tran Anh Phuong, representative of the Vietnam Network of Higher Education Innovation Entrepreneurship Centre, talked the critical role of businesses in supporting universities’ innovation and entrepreneurship efforts. She called for deeper business involvement in teaching, mentoring, and startup incubation.
As the world embraces artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and the creative economy, innovation is no longer optional but essential. Vietnam’s rich cultural and tourism industries now have a unique opportunity to redefine their roles, business models, and offerings for the future.
