Music night in Singapore marks 25 years since Trinh Cong Son’s passing
VOV.VN - A music night titled “Nối vòng tay lớn” (Joining Hands in Unity) will be held in Singapore to honor the musical legacy of Trinh Cong Son, a renowned Vietnamese songwriter, and bring his music closer to the Vietnamese community overseas.
The event marks the 25th anniversary of his passing (April 1, 2001 – April 1, 2026) and is part of a series of activities promoting Vietnam’s cultural presence abroad, commemorating his enduring influence in Singapore.
The program is scheduled for 7 p.m. on April 18 at Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, a well-established arts venue that has hosted major events. Around 500 guests are expected, including officials, diplomatic representatives, business figures, intellectuals, members of the Vietnamese community in Singapore and international friends who appreciate Vietnamese culture.
The event is jointly organized by the Embassy of Vietnam in Singapore, the Trinh Cong Son family, Vietnam Brand Purpose, Stamford Global Leadership Center, Silver Lion Enterprise Impact and Rong Xanh Fellowship. It also serves as a platform for connection among Vietnamese and international communities.
According to Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore Tran Phuoc Anh, “Holding a Trinh Cong Son music night in Singapore is not only to commemorate a great Vietnamese composer, but also a meaningful cultural activity for the Vietnamese community living, studying and working here. It offers an opportunity for people to meet, reconnect and rediscover familiar cultural values through music, thereby strengthening their ties with the homeland.”
Directed by Tan Loc, the program will feature singers My Linh, Duc Tuan, Tan Son and Ce Ce Truong, alongside saxophonist Tran Manh Tuan, the Arabesque Vietnam dance group and Vinh Tam band. A special performance by Vietnamese children born and raised overseas is also included.
