Music connects international friends in HCM City art programme

VOV.VN - A special music programme titled “Friendship Melodies” was held in Ho Chi Minh City on February 10, bringing together representatives from the consulate generals, trade offices, business associations and foreign non-governmental organisations.

The event, organised by the HCM City Union of Friendship Organisations, promotes international solidarity and friendship, marks the success of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and welcomes the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026.

In her opening remarks, Ha Thanh, president of the HCM City Union of Friendship Organisations said that the art programme was a practical cultural activity celebrating the outcomes of the 14th National Party Congress and helping to inspire confidence and pride among the public.

Through the universal language of art, the programme conveyed aspirations for peace and sustainable development, while highlighting the close ties between Ho Chi Minh City and international friends, she noted.

Ha Thanh recalled that in congratulatory letters and messages sent to the Congress, international partners expressed appreciation for the leadership role of the Communist Party of Vietnam and acknowledged the country’s growing standing on the global stage.

Addressing the event, Phonesy Bounmixay, Consul General of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in HCM City, congratulated the success of the 14th National Party Congress and the 96th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (Feb. 3, 1930 – 2026).

The HCM City Union of Friendship Organisations hosted many activities to strengthen friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and other countries, thereby making a positive contribution to people-to-people diplomacy, he noted.

The programme featured performances by Vietnamese artists praising the Party and the nation, fostering patriotism and national pride across generations. The Áo Dài Museum also presented a collection of traditional Vietnamese long dresses from different historical periods, honouring the country’s cultural heritage.

International elements included performances by Lao students studying in Ho Chi Minh City; the song “Motherland” performed by Olesia Kondratova, a teacher at Vietsopetro High School; traditional dances from the Republic of Korea, China, India and Bulgaria; a Japanese Yukata costume show by the Ho Chi Minh City University of Culture; and a spring-themed song and dance performance by the Ho Chi Minh City University of Education.

The event contributed to promoting cultural values, strengthening friendship and enhancing people-to-people exchanges between Ho Chi Minh City and international partners in the festive atmosphere of the Lunar New Year.
