Muong Phang welcomes spring with its 2026 cherry blossom festival
VOV.VN - The Muong Phang Cherry Blossom Festival 2026 is scheduled to take place from January 9 to 11 under the theme “Muong Phang in Spring – Cherry Blossoms in Bloom”, aiming to promote the locality’s image, honour ethnic cultural heritage and support sustainable tourism development.
A highlight of the festival is the themed art program held at Muong Phang Victory Park, presenting the area’s natural beauty, people and cultural life through traditional performances combined with modern staging.
The festival also features a range of community cultural activities, recreating the cultural spaces of Thai, Mong and Kho Mu ethnic groups through traditional costumes, handicrafts, folk games and hands-on experiences, helping strengthen interaction between residents and visitors.
Exhibition areas are set up to introduce agricultural products, OCOP-certified goods and cultural and tourism offerings from Muong Phang and neighboring localities, providing visitors with a broader view of the area’s economic and cultural potential.
Another feature is the “Huong Sac Muong Phang” banquet on the cherry blossom island, where delegates and visitors sample local cuisine in an open-air setting by Pa Khoang Lake. The festival also introduces elements of Japanese culture, including cherry blossoms, tea ceremonies and cuisine, creating a Vietnam-Japan cultural exchange feature.
In addition, the event includes sports activities and traditional games, notably a kayaking race on Pa Khoang Lake alongside community games that draw strong participation from local residents and visitors.
A long-term initiative is the launch of a cherry tree planting campaign in Keo village to protect the environment and develop a sustainable tourism landmark for the area.
Ahead of the opening, cherry blossoms have begun to bloom, attracting visitors for sightseeing and photography while they await the main festival events. With a more structured program and increasingly diverse content, the Muong Phang Cherry Blossom Festival is strengthening its position as a key cultural and tourism event in Dien Bien.
