Mid-autumn festivalto be held in Hanoi’s Old Quarter

The 2016 Mid-Autumn Festival in Hanoi’s Old Quarter will be held from September 2 to 15, 2016 (from the second day to the fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month).

This information has been announced by Hoan Kiem district People’s Committee.

The festival will feature traditional mid-autumn products while introduce folk toys making, arranging flowers, and making mid-autumn cakes on Hang Ma, Hang Luoc and Hang Ruoi Streets, in front of Dong Xuan Market gate, and along the pedestrian streets of Hang Dao, Dong Xuan and Hang Giay.

The opening ceremony will be held at 7.30 pm on September 2, 2016 in front of Dong Xuan Market gate, with activities such as a lion dance, mid-autumn product introduction, culture and art performances for children and a scholarship presentation ceremony for outstanding poor students.

Additionally, folk games and lion dances will be organised in front of Dong Xuan Market gate at 7.30 pm on September 9 and 7.30 pm on September 10, respectively.

A series of other activities such as traditional toy making, a photo exhibition on the mid-autumn festival preservation and puppetry performances will also be organised at cultural heritage sites in Hanoi.
