Lang Pagoda festival opens in Hanoi

VOV.VN - The Lang Pagoda festival kicked off in Dong Da district of Hanoi on April 11 to mark the beginning of the dry season. The opening day of the event proved popular and attracted many local people and tourists.

Local authorities and visitors were in attendance to witness the opening ceremony of the Lang Pagoda festival.
Pham Thi Hong Hai, chairwoman of Lang Thuong Ward People’s Committee, said that the festival aims to preserve traditional culture and help to pass it on to future generations.
The most elderly person in Lang Thuong ward is chosen to beat the drum to mark the opening of the festival.
A large number of elderly people join in event.
 
 
Local villagers offer incense to their ancestors before the beginning of the festival.
The annual festival begins on the 7th day of the third lunar month. This year it will take place across two days and will conclude on April 12.
A range of art performance and folk games are to be held during the festival.
 
 
 
 
Traditional art performance are organised in the courtyard of Lang Pagoda.
 
Many people snap photographs to preserve their memories of the festival.
