Korean literature drama contest promotes Vietnam-RoK cultural exchange
VOV.VN - More than 200 Vietnamese students have participated in the 2026 Korean Literature Drama Competition, an annual cultural event promoting Korean literature and cultural exchange between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea.
The competition was jointly organised by the Korean Cultural Centre in Vietnam and the National Museum of Korean Literature, attracting students majoring in Korean language and Korean studies from 11 universities in Hanoi.
Now in its fourth edition, the competition has become one of the most notable cultural exchange activities promoting Korean literature in Vietnam. The programme created a golden opportunity for local students to adapt and perform Korean literary works on stage, helping deepen understanding and strengthen cultural ties between the two countries.
The competition featured a diverse range of Korean literary works, from classics to modern stories. Many well-known titles were adapted and performed in Vietnamese, including “Byeoljubujeon” (Rabbit’s Liver), “The Story of Hong Gil Dong”, “Camellias Sam-ryong the Mute”, “Mother and Her Guest”, “The Hen Who Dreamed She Could Fly,” and “Welcome to the Hyunam-dong Bookshop”.
First prize went to “The Hen Who Dreamed She Could Fly” performed by Hanoi University. Two second prizes were awarded to “Ondal and Princess Pyeonggang” by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, and “Welcome to the Hyunam-dong Bookshop” by Thang Long University. Two third prizes went to “Camellias” by the University of Languages and International Studies and “Sam-ryong the Mute” by Phenikaa University.
Through the contest, Vietnamese students gained greater exposure to Korean literature through stage performance, helping spark interest in the Korean language and further strengthen cultural connections between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK).
