Vietnam-RoK photography exchange exhibition opens in Dak Lak

VOV.VN - A Vietnam-the Republic of Korea (RoK) photography exchange exhibition opened at the Dak Lak Museum on May 12 as part of cultural exchange activities between artists from the two countries.

The exhibition, themed “Connecting Identities,” is jointly organized by the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, a delegation of RoK photographers and the Dak Lak Literature and Arts Association.

The event introduces 100 photographic works by Vietnamese and RoK artists to the public, including 60 works by RoK photographers featuring the landscapes, culture and people of the RoK, and 40 works by Vietnamese artists portraying the scenery, cultural life and changes in Dak Lak province and the Central Highlands region.

According to Ho Sy Minh, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, the exhibition is a meaningful activity within a series of cultural exchange activities between photographers from the two nations, helping deepen ties under the Vietnam-RoK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

This year’s event also marks five years of exchanges between the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists and the Photographers Association of Korea, and is the second exhibition held in Vietnam.

“The photographs of the Republic of Korea show the country’s cultural identity, including its festivals and ethnic groups, while the Vietnamese works do the same,” Minh said. “I believe this exhibition creates deeper exchanges in culture and tourism and helps people better understand the people and land of this region. It helps bring the two nations and people closer together and deepen mutual understanding.”

The exhibition space is arranged on the grounds of the Dak Lak Museum alongside a traditional E De longhouse, creating a distinctive cultural highlight for the exchange activities.

Following the opening ceremony, Vietnamese and RoK photographers will take part in field trips and creative activities to learn more about the daily life and cultural practices of ethnic communities in Dak Lak province.

Earlier, from May 7, artists from both countries joined field trips combined with sightseeing visits to famous destinations in several south-central coastal provinces.

Soun Byeong Hyo, head of the delegation from the Photographers Association of Korea, said he was deeply impressed by Vietnam’s landscapes and people, particularly those of Dak Lak.
