Jennifer Ly presents Queen of the Night at Shanghai Fashion Week
VOV.VN - Vietnamese designer Jennifer Ly has unveiled Queen of the Night, a collection of more than 30 contemporary haute couture designs exploring the contrasting qualities of modern women, at Shanghai Fashion Week’s Spring/Summer 2027 season.
Presented in Shanghai, China, the collection portrays women as both proud and mysterious, alluring and powerful. Through structured silhouettes, intricate cuts, crystal embellishments and metallic fabrics, Ly explores different facets of femininity and the strength that can emerge from personal challenges.
The show brought together Vietnamese and international figures from beauty pageants. Mister International 2019 Trinh Bao and international pageant runner-up Tran Tien Dung shared the opening runway with Xie Lu Xing Dan Cary, winner of MGI All Stars China 2026.
Peter Wang, Mister Cosmo China 2026, and Yolanda Liu Xuebin, Miss Grand Hong Kong 2026, took the closing runway positions, while Quoc Tri, third runner-up at Mister Tourism World 2023, hosted the show.
Rather than portraying women through a single ideal of beauty, Queen of the Night presents a range of identities and emotional states, expressed through contrasting colours, shapes and symbolic imagery.
Among the collection’s standout designs is Nữ hoàng băng tuyết, whose sharp, precise lines convey a sense of pride and cool detachment. Phượng hoàng tái sinh symbolises the strength to rise above adversity, while Hơi thở đại ngàn evokes a free-spirited, uninhibited character.
The designs combine close-fitting silhouettes and carefully structured cuts with hand-finished details. Crystal embellishments and metallic materials create reflective effects under the runway lights, while the contrast between dark shades and points of light reinforces the collection’s visual identity.
Elaborating on the collection, Jennifer Ly shared that she wants to portray various facets of women through symbolic imagery.
“I believe there is a queen within every woman. At times she can be cool and proud, while at others she is strong and full of vitality, passing through fire to be reborn,” the designer said.
The collection was presented during Shanghai Fashion Week’s Spring/Summer 2027 season, which ran from October 8 to 16.
