Japanese conductor to lead The Great Wave concert in Hanoi
VOV.VN - Internationally-acclaimed conductor Yutaka Sado is scheduled to lead a concert themed The Great Wave on January 4 at the Ho Guom Opera House in Hanoi.
The concert will highlight the extraordinary performances of classical music by the Super Kids Orchestra (SKO) under the baton of the world-renowned Japanese conductor.
The concert is the first project in the Vietnam Youth Orchestra (VYO) exchange programme that aims to bring international culture to Vietnam and showcase Vietnamese culture to the world. The Super Kids Orchestra and the Vietnam Youth Orchestra expect to help local music lovers to experience the quintessential virtues of cultures from around the world.
The show will also present classic works, including Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings in C Major, Op. 48, Bill Whelan’s Riverdance, and Vittorio Monti’s Csárdás.
Born in Kyoto, Yutaka Sado is currently music director of the Tonkünstler Orchestra in Austria, artistic director of the Hyogo Performing Arts Center and its resident orchestra in Nishinomiya, Japan, and the principal conductor of the Siena Wind Orchestra in Tokyo.
Sado was the recipient of the Grand Prix of the 39th Besançon International Competition for Young Conductor in 1989, and the Grand Prix of the Leonard Bernstein Jerusalem International Music Competition in 1995.
He has guested with many of the world’s leading ensembles, including Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington D.C.
Founded in 2003 and led by Yutaka Sado, the SKO, the brightest youth orchestra of Japan, consists of passionate members with top-class playing skills who pass through a rigorous selection from all over the country. It continuously impresses public audiences, as well as experts with their outstanding performances.
At the same time, SKO nurtures many potential rising stars of classical music in Japan, such as cellist Sasanuma Tatsuki and violinist Hina Maeda.
After 20 years of persistent activities, the orchestra has organised and performed in many famous concerts and huge broadcasting programmes in the Far East country.
