India helps restore degraded towers of My Son World Cultural Heritage
VOV.VN - The administration of Quang Nam province and the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) on February 21 launched the Conservation and Restoration Project for towers E and F of the My Son World Cultural Heritage site complex for the 2025-2029 period.

Towers E and F, the oldest in My Son, include 11 structures that are severely degraded and require urgent restoration, according to Vietnamese and Indian experts.
Phan Thai Binh, vice chairman of the Quang Nam provincial administration, expressed gratitude to the Indian government and experts for their support in the restoration and conservation of the My Son Sanctuary.
He emphasized that, based on a comprehensive assessment of the current state of towers E and F, Vietnamese and Indian experts should adopt a unified approach to ensure the best preservation of the site’s original values.
The restoration must be carried out with extreme caution, particularly in selecting replacement materials, said Binh.
He also instructed Duy Xuyen district that houses the relic complex, the My Son World Cultural Heritage Management Board, and related agencies to provide all necessary support to facilitate the restoration process and ensure the project stays on schedule.
Vietnamese and Indian experts affirmed that the primary restoration method would focus on reinforcing and preserving the original elements of the structures to maintain historical authenticity.
Shri Azmira Bhima, director of the Archaeological Survey of India, expressed hope that the project would not only protect the values of towers E and F but also enhance the management and technical expertise of local personnel while developing a skilled workforce in heritage conservation.
The restoration of towers E and F aims to address deterioration, restore the architectural space, and enhance the significance of My Son as a unique World Cultural Heritage site in central Vietnam.
