Huong Giang fails to make top 30 at Miss Universe 2025
VOV.VN - Vietnamese representative Nguyen Huong Giang did not advance to the Top 30 at the Miss Universe 2025 pageant, whose grand finale took place in Thailand on November 21.
The grand finale featured 120 contestants who introduced in groups while walking the stage in silver outfits and proudly announcing their countries. Huong Giang appeared in the final group, delivering a radiant and energetic performance as she confidently called out “Vietnam.”
Despite her strong stage presence, she was not named among the Top 30 finalists who competed in the swimsuit segment. From there, judges select the Top 12 for the evening gown competition, the Top 5 for the Q&A round, and finally, the Top 3 vying for the crown and runners-up positions.
Nguyen Huong Giang, 34, first came into the spotlight as a Top 4 finalist on Vietnam Idol 2012. She later made history in 2018 by winning Miss International Queen in Thailand, becoming the first transgender woman from Vietnam to claim such a prestigious international title. Since then, she has pursued a multifaceted career in music, acting, and reality TV production.
Miss Universe is one of the world’s most prestigious beauty pageants, held annually and followed by millions worldwide. The organisation has broken traditional eligibility barriers, welcoming all women, including transgender women over 18 years old, regardless of height, body shape, marital status, or motherhood.
Vietnam’s best result at Miss Universe was achieved by H’Hen Nie, who reached the Top 5 in 2018. Last year, Nguyen Cao Ky Duyen represented Vietnam and finished in the Top 30.
