Hung Kings commemoration ritual to be recreated at Vietnam Festival in Japan

The Hung Kings’ commemoration ritual will be recreated at the 9th Vietnam Cultural Festival in Japan, helping promote Vietnamese culture and strengthen community bonds among overseas Vietnamese.

The information was announced at a press briefing on March 14 at the headquarters of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs. The event was jointly organised by the Vietnamese Association in Kansai and the Liaison Committee for Overseas Vietnamese under the patronage of the Consulate General of Vietnam in Osaka.

The Vietnam Cultural Festival in Japan – Re-enactment of the Hung Kings’ Commemoration (9th edition) is scheduled to take place on April 19 at Ikuno Park in Osaka, featuring a wide range of distinctive cultural activities.

Nearly 50 food and exhibition booths showcasing Vietnamese cuisine, products and services are expected, offering opportunities to promote cultural exchange and strengthen connections between businesses and communities of the two countries.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Nguyen Phu Binh, former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Liaison Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, noted that after many years of organisation, the festival has gradually become a major community cultural event in the Kansai region, attracting large numbers of overseas Vietnamese, international friends and local residents.

According to him, the festival is not only an occasion for Vietnamese people abroad to pay tribute to their roots but also an important bridge for cultural diplomacy and people-to-people exchange, contributing to stronger friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Japan.

Ambassador Pham Thi Kim Hoa, Vice Chairwoman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, said preserving the Vietnamese language and cultural identity has become a shared awareness among overseas Vietnamese communities.

In particular, the reenactment of the Hung Kings Commemoration Ceremony abroad is considered a unique highlight, contributing to the unity of over 100 million Vietnamese people, no matter where they live, study, or work, she said.
