Hoi An unveils activities to mark Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day
VOV.VN - Hoi An has unveiled a diverse programme of events from November 21 to December 7 to celebrate Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day (November 23) and mark the 26th anniversary of UNESCO’s recognition of Hoi An Ancient Town as a world heritage site (December 4).
According to Hoi An World Cultural Heritage Conservation Centre, Da Nang City, the celebrations include a photo exhibition of documentary heritage, “Rubbings of Stone Inscriptions in Hoi An” (November 23–December 5), and a book launch of “Hoi An Gazetteer – Ecology Volume” and “Architectural Heritage of Hoi An Ancient Town” on November 24, highlighting the cultural and historical values of the region.
Visitors can also experience unique cultural activities such as Japanese cultural workshops on November 23 and December 4, and a heritage-themed tour, “Journey of Discovery – Touching the Heritage”, on December 1 - 2.
Sports enthusiasts are invited to participate in a running race for the World Cultural Heritage – Hoi An on November 30, as well as the 9th Heritage Cup seven-a-side men’s football tournament, which runs from November 23 to December 2.
In particular, foreign experts and scholars will convene on December 4 for a conference themed “Preservation and Promotion of the Values of Hoi An Ancient Town – A World Cultural Heritage Site in the New Context.” On the same day, locals and tourists alike can enjoy free access to Hoi An’s Old Quarter, celebrating the town’s enduring cultural legacy.
