HBO Max to debut in Vietnam in June 2026
VOV.VN - Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD), a leading global media and entertainment company, has announced that HBO Max will officially launch its direct-to-consumer streaming service in Vietnam on June 16, 2026, marking the completion of the company’s rollout across key Southeast Asian markets.
The global streaming platform brings together major entertainment brands including HBO, Harry Potter, the DC Universe, Cartoon Network, and Max Originals, alongside a wide selection of Hollywood blockbusters.
Vietnamese viewers will gain access to upcoming HBO and Max Original productions throughout 2026, including Season 3 of House of the Dragon premiering on June 22, DC Studios’ Lanterns scheduled for release in August, and the highly anticipated new Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone series expected to debut during the Christmas season.
According to James Gibbons, president of Warner Bros. Discovery Asia-Pacific, the Vietnam launch represents a significant milestone in the company’s regional expansion strategy.
The launch would broaden access to Warner Bros. Discovery’s entertainment content for more audiences across Southeast Asia, he said,
From launch day, Vietnamese subscribers will be able to stream Oscar-winning films such as Sinners and One Battle After Another, alongside popular HBO and Max Original series including The Last of Us, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, Game of Thrones and The Pitt, as well as the complete Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings collections.
Classic television hits such as Friends and The Big Bang Theory will also be available, alongside family-oriented animated content including We Bare Bears and Adventure Time: Fionna & Cake.
HBO Max will support multiple devices, mobile number-based subscriptions, personalised recommendations and up to five user profiles. Additional features include content downloads, continue-watching options, and dedicated children’s profiles with parental controls.
Subscriptions in Vietnam will open on June 16, while HBO Go will cease operations in the country on June 15.
