Hanoi's Old Quarter gears up for Mid-Autumn Festival

VOV.VN - A string of cultural activities will take place in Hanoi’s Old Quarter from September 25 to October 12 to celebrate the 2025 Mid-Autumn Festival, offering locals and visitors a blend of tradition, art, and community spirit.

The highlight of the festival will be  an opening ceremony at 3 p.m. on September 25 at the Arts and Culture Center, 22 Hang Buom Street. The venue will host artisans who will present and teach visitors, including children, how to make toys, star lanterns, bamboo dragonflies, and other traditional items.

Three days later, the Hanoi Fashion Design Association will organize a children’s fashion show at the center.

A variety of arts and handicrafts will be displayed at Kim Ngan Temple, 42-44 Hang Bac Street.

Scientific seminars on historical values and workshops guiding children in making lion heads will also be held.

Visitors can enjoy a series of vibrant street murals on Phung Hung Street, showcasing the long-standing culture of the capital. STEM games combining science, art, and technology will be available, bringing the traditional festival closer to the younger generation.

On the evening of October 13, tourists will have the opportunity to enjoy the Mid-Autumn festive atmosphere through a lantern procession around Hanoi’s Old Quarter and Hoan Kiem (Returned Sword) Lake.

The event also reflects Hanoi’s commitment to blending cultural preservation with creative innovation, ensuring that traditional festivals remain relevant and engaging in contemporary society. Organizers expect the celebration to strengthen community bonds and provide lasting memories for participants of all ages.
