Hanoi's cultural programs honor traditional crafts, classical theatre
VOV.VN - Hanoi is hosting diverse cultural exhibitions and interactive programs from November 3, 2026, to January 3, 2027, to celebrate Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day on November 23 and Vietnam Cultural Day on November 24, alongside the Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2026.
The events, organized by the Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter Management Board, aim to connect heritage with contemporary life, promote traditional arts, heritage values and bring these cultural values closer to the public, particularly younger generations, thus helping turn the Old Quarter into a cultural, artistic, and creative center.
At the Ho Guom Cultural Information Center at 2 Le Thai To Street, the "Convergence of Quintessence" program shows traditional craftsmanship through Phu Vinh rattan and bamboo weaving techniques, embroidery works by artisan Vu Gioi and his son Vu Dinh Thi, and ceramic creations by artist Ky Danh.
A key highlight is the installation space featuring the boat motif "Ben Ke Cho" (Wharf of the Old Hanoi Trading Quarter) and an artwork comprising 200 ceramic, bamboo, and wooden fish sculptures. Visitors can meet artisans, watch live demonstrations, and experience crafting techniques firsthand.
Meanwhile, the "Classic and Contemporary Tuong Stories" exhibition at the Hanoi Old Quarter Cultural Exchange Center at 50 Dao Duy Tu Street explores classical Vietnamese Tuong (traditional theatre). Hosted at a former historical Tuong theatre site, the exhibition presents the history, theatrical expressions, music, costumes, and makeup art of Tuong. The program includes artist exchanges, excerpt performances, and hands-on workshops running through November and December 2026.
