Hanoi to welcome New Year 2026 with a vibrant line-up of cultural events
VOV.VN - Hanoi will ring in New Year 2026 with a wide range of cultural and artistic activities, offering both residents and visitors an engaging and festive atmosphere throughout the year-end holiday season.
A highlight of the celebrations will be the official launch of the Hoan Kiem Lake – Turtle Tower Art Lighting Space, organised by the Hoan Kiem Ward People’s Committee. The opening ceremony is scheduled for the evening of December 24, marking the start of a series of cultural events welcoming the New Year.
The artistic lighting display will take place daily from December 24, 2025 to January 4, 2026, and will be open to the public free of charge. Designed to create a warm, peaceful, and celebratory ambiance, the installation enhances the festive spirit of both Christmas and New Year in the heart of the capital.
Another major attraction is the digital exhibition titled “Radiant Hanoi – Light and Heritage,” which will open on the evening of December 26 at the Exhibition House located at 93 Dinh Tien Hoang Street. The exhibition aims to bring the cultural heritage of Thang Long – Hanoi closer to the public through the use of modern digital technology and contemporary art.
Using advanced techniques such as digital projection, interactive lighting, multimedia installations, and immersive storytelling, the exhibition presents Hanoi’s history, memories, and cultural life in a visually dynamic and emotionally engaging way. For the first time, visitors will be able to interact directly with the displays, experiencing re-enactments of Hanoi’s heritage through technologies including 3D mapping, immersive environments, LED kinetic systems, interactive walls, and virtual reality.
The New Year celebrations will culminate in a countdown party at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square, near Hoan Kiem Lake. The event will run from 7:00 p.m. on December 31, 2025, until 12:30 a.m. on January 1, 2026, marking the transition into the New Year.
The countdown concert will feature performances by popular Vietnamese artists such as Van Mai Huong, Hoang Minzy, Wean Le, and Karik, accompanied by state-of-the-art sound and lighting effects. It promises a lively and memorable night of music, celebration, and community spirit in the heart of Hanoi.
