Hanoi special mega show to kick-start 2026 national concert series
VOV.VN - A special political-art mega show titled Echoes of the Fatherland is scheduled to take place at 8 p.m. on April 28 at My Dinh National Stadium in Hanoi, marking the launch of Vietnam’s 2026 national concert series under the theme “Proud to Be Vietnamese.”
The event, organised by the Party Central Committee’s Information, Education and Mass Mobilisation Commission, in coordination with Vietnam Television and the Hanoi People’s Committee, is to commemorate major national milestones in 2026, and is expected to serve as a large-scale cultural highlight kicking off a year of nationwide performances.
Vietnam has successfully organised the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and local People’s Councils for the 2026-2031 tenure. It is also celebrating other major events this year, including Southern Liberation and National Reunification Day (April 30), Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7), President Ho Chi Minh's birth anniversary (May 19), and National Day (September 2).
The event is expected to attract around 40,000 spectators, and bring together more than 2,000 artists and performers, along with 500 members of the armed forces.
The highlight will be the integration of modern stage production with large-scale live-action performances, including appearances by mounted mobile police units and trained police dogs - an unusual feature for concerts in Vietnam.
The show is structured in two parts with distinct artistic tones, depicting the nation’s historical depth and journey of nation-building and defense. A firework display will close the concert.
Inspired by the symbolic image of the bronze drum, the programme blends a wide range of musical genres, from symphony and pop to rock, combined with modern staging techniques to create a performance that is both grand and emotionally resonant.
Famous artists namely Tung Duong, Hoa Minzy, and Duc Phuc, along with two rock bands - Buc Tuong and Ngu Cung - will gather at the event. In addition, the concert will attract many veteran artists such as People's Artists Duong Minh Duc and Ha Thuy, Meritorious Artists Hoang Tung and Vu Thang Loi, the symphony orchestra and Thanh Am Xanh Band conducted by Dong Quang Vinh.
More than just a concert, Echoes of the Fatherland is envisioned as a call to inspire national pride and a spirit of contribution among Vietnamese people. With its large-scale investment and innovative approach, the programme is expected to set the tone for a vibrant year of national concerts and become one of the standout cultural events of 2026.
