Hanoi hosts Peruvian food festival celebrating culinary diplomacy
VOV.VN - The second Asian edition of the “Flavors of Peru” food week is taking place in Hanoi from July 9 to 13, marking the 204th anniversary of Peru’s Independence Day.

The Flavors of Peru”- II Edition Asia festival is part of ongoing efforts to solidify the friendship between Peru and Vietnam through the universal language of food. It also serves as a cultural bridge, promoting Peru’s rich culinary heritage to international audiences.
Following the success of its inaugural edition in Bangkok, the Hanoi event showcases the diversity of Peruvian cuisine through the creativity of chefs from the “Land of the Incas,” many of whom are currently working at acclaimed restaurants across Asia.
Throughout the week, guests can enjoy traditional Peruvian specialties such as ceviche (marinated fish salad), pollo a la brasa (roast chicken), anticuchos (grilled meat skewers), causa Limeña (stuffed potato cake), and lomo saltado (stir-fried beef). Other notable dishes include ají de gallina (chicken in yellow chili sauce), picarones (honey-glazed doughnuts), suspiro a la Limeña (Peruvian-style egg custard), chicha morada (purple corn juice), and maca latte.
Speaking at the opening ceremony on July 9, Peruvian Ambassador to Vietnam Patricia Ráez Portocarrero described “Flavors of Peru” as a window into the country’s vibrant cultural identity, while highlighting how food can bring people closer together. She also underlined the importance of further consolidating bilateral cooperation between Peru and Vietnam.
Also at the event, Deputy Foreign Minister Ngo Le Van expressed his admiration for the people and culture of Peru. He emphasized that with strong political determination and joint efforts, the friendly and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries will continue to grow and flourish for the benefit of both peoples.
