Peruvian culinary week set to come to Hanoi

VOV.VN - The Embassy of Peru in Vietnam will host the second edition of “Flavors of Peru” Culinary Week in Asia from July 9 to 13, marking the 204th anniversary of the South American nation’s Independence Day (July 28, 1821 – 2025).

Following its successful debut in Bangkok, Thailand, the event now comes to Hanoi to showcase the richness of Peruvian cuisine to international audiences.

The Vietnam edition will feature four renowned Peruvian chefs currently working at top restaurants across Asia. Among them will be Pier Lopez Mendizabal, a Peruvian culinary expert with over 15 years of experience. He is currently working as a chef at the restaurant YUNKA Nikkei in Ho Chi Minh City.

He will join three other chefs from the Asian region, including Abel Ortiz Alvarez from Chullschick restaurant in Hong Kong (China), Franco Aldana from Feliz restaurant in Malaysia, and R. Rodrigo Serrano from DIP Nikkei restaurant in the Philippines.

Diners in Hanoi will get the chance to sample traditional Peruvian dishes such as ceviche (marinated raw fish), pollo a la brasa (Peruvian roasted chicken), lomo saltado (Peruvian stir-fried beef), anticuchos (grilled meat skewers), causa Limeña, papa a la huancaína, along with desserts and drinks like picarones, suspiro a la Limeña, alfajores, pisco sour, chicha morada, and maca latte.

A cocktail party, a cooking demonstration, Prestige and Palate night, and buffets will be organised in InterContinental Hanoi Westlake Hotel as part of the gastronomic festival.

“Flavors of Peru” Culinary Week is a rare opportunity for Vietnamese diners to discover one of the world’s most diverse and creative culinary traditions, right in the heart of Hanoi, according to the embassy.
