“Hanoi Cultural Days in Moscow” tightens Vietnam-Russia friendship
VOV.VN - An art programme and exhibition were held in Moscow on May 21 as part of “Hanoi Cultural Days in Moscow 2026.”
The event was jointly organized by the Hanoi People’s Committee and the Moscow city administration to help reinforce the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Russia, while opening up opportunities for cooperation in culture, education, tourism and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
“Hanoi Cultural Days in Moscow” serves not only as a cultural and political exchange event, but also as an occasion for the two capitals to deepen mutual understanding, strengthen solidarity and effectively implement their cooperation programme for the 2025-2027 period.
Addressing the event, Phung Thi Hong Ha, Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee and Chairwoman of the Hanoi People’s Council, said “Hanoi Cultural Days in Moscow 2026” offers an opportunity to introduce Hanoi as an elegant, civilized and culturally distinctive capital to international friends.
She added that the programme also helps further strengthen the traditional friendship and close cooperation between Hanoi and Moscow, as well as between Vietnam and Russia.
A highlight of the event series was the exhibition “Quoc Tu Giam – Vietnam’s First National School,” a symbol of Vietnam’s long-standing tradition of valuing learning and nurturing talent.
Through photographs, documents and exhibits, the exhibition recreated the historical and cultural heritage of Thang Long-Hanoi, while introducing the image of Vietnam and its people to Russian audiences.
The exhibition space also featured traditional Vietnamese handicrafts, including a replica of the Dong Son bronze drum, along with cultural activities showcasing Hanoi’s heritage in the heart of Moscow.
Elena Pyltsina, Scientific Secretary at the Institute of China and Contemporary Asia and senior researcher at the Vietnam and ASEAN Studies Centre, shared her impressions at the exhibition.
“My life has long been connected with Vietnam. The country drew me in with its rich culture, long history and, of course, the economic miracle it has shown the world,” she said.
“For me, it is wonderful to see this exhibition in Moscow, one that helps Russian people better understand Vietnam’s unique cultural identity, its creative industries and its vibrant culture.”
Alongside the exhibition, the special art programme “Hanoi- Echoes of a Thousand Years” offered Russian audiences and the Vietnamese community in Russia a performance blending traditional identity with a contemporary spirit.
The programme brought together People’s Artists, Meritorious Artists and leading performers from Hanoi, combining traditional arts with contemporary music.
Vyacheslav Viktorovich Manuilov, Deputy Head of the Moscow Department for External Economic and International Relations, said this year’s programme was held at the Hanoi-Moscow Cultural Centre, a venue long associated with the friendship between the two capitals.
“Moscow and Hanoi are twin cities and close partners. Last year, ‘Moscow Days in Hanoi’ was held successfully, and we hope tonight’s music and dances will help the people of Moscow feel the soul of Vietnam,” he said.
Performances featuring ca tru (ceremonial singing), xam (folk music), cheo (traditional folk opera) and chau van (spiritual singing), accompanied by the sounds of the dan bau (monochord zither), bamboo flute and dan nguyet (moon lute), reflected the cultural depth of thousand-year-old Thang Long-Hanoi.
Several performances left a strong impression on audiences, including “Sacred and Elegant Hanoi,” “Dong Xuan Market,” “Ha Dong Silk Dress,” “Passionate Hanoi,” and a monochord zither performance combining famous Russian songs “Moscow Nights” and “The Swan’s Fidelity.”
The event created a vibrant atmosphere and received a warm response from Russian audiences and the Vietnamese community in Moscow.
Its emotional melodies became a cultural bridge, bringing people closer despite geographical distance and further nurturing the traditional friendship between the peoples of Vietnam and Russia.
