Hanoi chefs win medals at Thailand Ultimate Chef Challenge 2026
VOV.VN - The Hanoi culinary team won two bronze medals at the Thailand Ultimate Chef Challenge 2026, held in Bangkok from May 26-30, marking a strong debut at an international culinary competition.
The team's first international medals were secured by Chef Luu Huynh Chau and Chef Nguyen Thanh Hieu. The results highlighted the chefs' professional skills and marked an encouraging start for the Hanoi culinary team's participation in international competitions.
Widely regarded as one of Asia's leading professional culinary contests, the Thailand Ultimate Chef Challenge is organised under standards set by the World Association of Chefs' Societies (Worldchefs). This year's event attracted thousands of chefs, culinary experts, international judges and national teams from across the region and beyond.
The competition offered participants an opportunity to demonstrate their technical skills and creativity while gaining exposure to the latest global culinary trends. Against a highly competitive field, winning medals on a first international appearance represented a notable achievement for the Hanoi team.
The Hanoi delegation consisted of five chefs led by team captain and Iron Chef Nguyen Van Tu. The team was supported by a coaching staff of five experienced culinary professionals headed by Nguyen Cong Chung, Executive Chef of Sheraton Hanoi Hotel.
According to team representatives, the long-term goal is to develop a new generation of highly skilled chefs capable of competing in the international culinary industry.
"Our objective is not merely to achieve strong results at individual events, but to develop a generation of highly skilled young chefs capable of integrating into and competing within the international culinary industry," a team representative said.
The team views professional competitions as an opportunity for young chefs to gain experience, refine their skills and strengthen the reputation of Hanoi's culinary community on regional and international stages.
The result also provides momentum for continued investment in training and talent development, preparing the team for larger regional and global competitions.
