80 artworks on display in Hanoi to mark August Revolution and National Day

VOV.VN - A special exhibition featuring 80 paintings by Vietnamese artists will open on August 15 at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum in Hanoi to mark the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945-2025) and National Day (September 2).

The showcase highlights notable works created between 1947 and 1986, using diverse materials such as oil, lacquer, silk, paper, wood, and plaster. Each piece offers vivid, powerful depictions of the Vietnamese people, from historical heroes to everyday citizens  through rich visual storytelling.

Prominent figures portrayed include revolutionary icons such as Nguyen Van Troi, Nguyen Thi Dinh, and Doctor Ton That Tung, alongside lesser-known individuals such as female militia members, soldiers, workers, and farmers.

The exhibition also gathers works by leading figures in modern Vietnamese art, including Phan Ke An, Nguyen Sang, Bui Xuan Phai, Diep Minh Chau, Nguyen Sy Ngoc, and Huynh Van Gam, as well as pieces by painter-martyrs Hoang Anh and Ha Xuan Phong.

Their contributions not only shaped Vietnam’s fine arts heritage but also preserved its historical memory, capturing the simple, resilient, and proud spirit of the nation’s people.

More than just an art event, the exhibition serves as a tribute to generations who shaped Vietnam’s history. It invites the public to reflect on the past, take pride in national achievements, and nurture the spirit of patriotism and aspiration for a prosperous, peaceful future. The exhibition will run until September 10.
