Goethe Institut presents improvised music concerts
VOV.VN - The Goethe-Institut has unveiled that an ensemble of 10 musicians from two capitals and two continents – Hanoi and Berlin – will play experimental and improvisational music at upcoming concerts in Hanoi and Hoi An.
The concerts will stage on October 22 at the Goethe Institute Hanoi and on October 27 at the Hoi An Museum of Folk Culture performing collective improvised music and three pieces by Tran Kim Ngoc, Andrea Neumann and Burkhard Beins that have been composed specifically for these events.
Hanoi-based music composer and improviser Tran Thi Kim Ngoc studied music in Vietnam and Germany. Starting with composing contemporary music for orchestra and ensemble, Kim Ngoc recently put her major efforts into the discovery and fostering of an interdisciplinary language of art.
In 2012, Kim Ngoc founded DomDom – the first hub in Vietnam devoted to the development of contemporary experimental music and cross-disciplinary art. She is also the founder and artistic director of the Hanoi New Music Festival. Kim Ngoc’s works are performed worldwide.
