'For the Primary health of Vietnamese people' photo contest reviewed
VOV.VN - VOV Online Newspaper in collaboration with the Delegation of the European Union to Vietnam, the World Bank, the Ministry of Health and the project “Health Professionals Education and Training for Health System Reforms have jointly launched a photo contest ‘For the primary health of Vietnamese people’ to mark 40 years of the Alma-Ata Declaration on Primary Health Care.

It is also designed to help people get a better understanding of the EU's contributions to PHC activities for the people of Vietnam.
The competition was launched on August 29, 2018 and received entries from September 1 to October 31, 2018. It attracted 1,270 entries submitted by 350 professional and amateur photographers, especially by health workers working in the primary health field from every corner of the nation.
Artworks focus on disseminating on 10 PHC contents of primary health including health education, proper nutrition, food supply, safe water supply, environmental hygiene, maternal and child health, family planning, vaccination to prevent infectious diseases, local disease control, appropriate treatment of common diseases and injuries, supply of essential drugs, health management and strengthening health facilities at grassroots levels.
First prize, two second, three third and five consolation prizes were selected by organizers.
In addition, the organizing board also decided to present the award to author with the most shared photo in the fanpage of the contest.
This is one of the photo contest with highest prize value in 2018 in Vietnam with the first prize reaching VND50 million.
At 5:20 pm on November 30, 2018, the organizing board selected the most shared artwork on the fanpage with 601 shares. Notably, the winning author for the award donated all the prize money to support children with cleft lip and palate in Vietnam.
The organizing board receives thousands of entries from authors of different regions in the country and the results of the contest have exceeded all organizers’ expectations.
Being a famous photographer and a member of jury panel of many contests, Mr Hoang Hai Thinh said this is a high quality photo competition that has attracted the participation of many authors at all ages.
The broad range of theme of the contest has reflected the health care issue for the community, especially the ethnic minority groups. The contest is organized in systematic manner and touches upon all social strata. Along with other competitions, the number of artworks reaching more than 700 in the preliminary round of the contest has proved the great attention of the Vietnamese photographers and society towards the contest.
“We have encountered no difficulties in the first and second rounds but it is really difficult for us to select artworks in the final round as there are too many high quality works. Finally, the most inspiring photos have been selected”, said Mr Thinh.
Two second prizes are worth VND20 million each while three third prizes are worth VND5 million each.
In addition, there are five consolation prizes and one prize with the most shared photo on the fanpage of the contest.
The review and award ceremony of the contest will be held at 18:30 on December 7, 2018 (Friday). The photo exhibition will run until December 9, 2018 at Ho Guom Cultural Information Centre at No 2, Le Thai To street, Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi.
