First World Culture Day to be held in Hanoi this October

VOV.VN - The first-ever World Culture Day in Hanoi will be jointly organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Hanoi People’s Committee at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel on October 4 - 5.

The event will feature a wide range of activities including artistic performances, culinary showcases, film screenings, fine arts exhibitions, traditional costumes, and books from many countries around the world.

The activities not only highlight the thousand-year-old culture of Hanoi, and the image of an open, friendly, and culturally diverse Vietnam that respects differences, but also showcase the rich cultural heritage of countries worldwide to local audiences in Hanoi and across the country.

The initiative seeks to nurture creativity, foster cultural diversity, and further affirm Hanoi’s position as a UNESCO Creative City and City for Peace, according to Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Hai Binh.

Hanoi is home to numerous diplomatic missions, international organisations, and foreign cultural centers. Beyond being a workplace, the city has become a welcoming and familiar home for international partners and friends. The presence and participation of these entities at the event will serve as vivid proof of their affection and close ties with Hanoi.

The participation of embassies, cultural centres, and international organisations is expected to enrich the cultural mosaic while demonstrating solidarity with Vietnam in promoting the role of culture in sustainable development, building a prosperous and cohesive future.

This is a significant event aimed at honouring cultural values, enhancing international exchanges and cooperation, and promoting the image and culture of Hanoi and Vietnam to friends across the globe, Binh said.

He expressed hope that embassies, cultural centres, and international organisations in Vietnam would extend strong support and active participation, considering them essential to the success of the event.

Held in an open space that meets requirements for scale, infrastructure, security, and safety, World Culture Day is expected to ensure both quality and inclusiveness. While the inaugural ceremony will take place at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, larger venues such as Thong Nhat Park or the National Exposition Centre may be considered for future editions as the event expands.
