First Vietnamese artist nominated at Golden Bell Awards
VOV.VN - Actor Lien Binh Phat has made history as the first Vietnamese artist to be nominated at the Golden Bell Awards – one of Taiwan (China)’s most prestigious film and television honours – for his role in the TV series The Outlaw Doctor.

In the official nomination list announced by the Golden Bell Awards organisers, Lien Binh Phat received a surprise nod in the Best Leading Actor category for his portrayal of Dr. Pham Van Ninh in the series.
This marks not only the first time a Vietnamese actor has been nominated at Taiwan’s top-tier awards but also a significant recognition of his dedication and growth as an actor.
The Outlaw Doctor, a Taiwanese psychological crime and medical drama, delves into pressing social issues such as migrant labour and the hidden struggles of everyday life. The cooperation cinema project between Vietnam and Taiwan tells about a Vietnamese doctor to work in Taiwan (China) with the desire to earn money to save his mother from illness.
The Golden Bell Awards were founded in 1965 with the aim of promoting Taiwanese radio broadcasting and recognizing excellent radio programmes. After 1970, the annual awards also started considering television productions.
Currently, the annual presentation ceremonies for radio broadcasting and television awards are held separately in September or October.
Lien Binh Phat, 35, hailing from Kien Giang, was first known for his role as Dung in the movie Song Lang (2018). He then won hearts of many audiences through the reality TV show Running Man Vietnam.
