“Đào, Phở và Piano” premieres at 5th Imedghassen International Film Festival
VOV.VN - Vietnamese feature film “Đào, Phở và Piano” ((Peach Blossom, Pho and Piano) made its debut on September 15 at the 5th Imedghassen International Film Festival in Algeria, marking the first screening of Vietnam’s entries at the event.

Vietnam has been invited as the guest of honour at the festival. Alongside “Đào, Phở và Piano", Vietnam has entered two documentaries into the event:“Điện Biên - Đất và người” (Dien Bien-Land and People) and “Chiến thắng Điện Biên Phủ năm 1954 - 56 ngày đêm chấn động địa cầu” (Dien Bien Phu Victory in 1954-56 days and nights that shocked the globe).
The festival features a diverse selection of works, including feature films, documentaries, animations, and revolutionary films. It also hosts a variety of side events, such as exhibitions, tours, forums, cultural exchanges, and art performances. According to the organizing committee, 580 films from 27 countries and territories registered for the festival, with 53 films screened during the event.
Speaking at the screening of “Đào, Phở và Piano", Vietnamese Ambassador to Algeria Tran Quoc Khanh said it is a great honor for Vietnamese cinema to participate for the first time and that the film provides international audiences with a closer look at life in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam.
Siffeddine Toulmit, Executive Director of the Imedghassen Film Festival, expressed hope that Vietnam would continue to take part in future editions of the festival in Batna and join additional activities such as training programs and experience-sharing sessions on the cinema industry.
Earlier, “Đào, Phở và Piano", directed by Phi Tien Son, was selected to represent Vietnamese cinema in the preliminary round of the 2025 Oscars. The film has also received multiple domestic awards, including the Silver Lotus Award at the 23rd Vietnam Film Festival in 2023 and the Silver Kite Award from the Vietnam Cinema Association in 2024.
The 2025 Imedghassen Film Festival running from September 10 to 16, is organized by the El Lemssa Cultural Cooperative and accredited by Algeria’s Ministry of Culture and Arts.
