First-ever Francophone comics festival bound for HCM City in April

VOV.VN - “La bande dessinée sans frontières” (comics without borders), a Francophone comic festival, is scheduled to take place in Ho Chi Minh City for the first time on April 4.

The event is jointly organised by the French Institutes in Vietnam and Cambodia, in collaboration with France Livre, the Wallonie Bruxelles delegation, and key partners in the French, Cambodian, and Vietnamese publishing industries. It not only marks a significant milestone for the comic book industry but also contributes to promoting publishing cooperation between France, Belgium, Vietnam, and Cambodia.

A wide range of activities will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Sofitel Saigon Plaza, bringing together prominent figures from the contemporary comic scene across multiple countries. The programme will feature simultaneous Vietnamese–French interpretation and is open free of charge to the public.

The festival will offer a diverse lineup of exhibitions, creative workshops, book launches and signing sessions, as well as talks with international authors, providing audiences with a comprehensive exploration of the comic world. Beyond publishing, it also extends to the broader creative ecosystem, with the participation of animation studios and audiovisual industry representatives.

The event will bring together many international authors, namely Marguerite Abouet, Clément Baloup, Marcelino Truong, Vincent Lefrançois, Eddy Coubeaux, and CEO Fabien Lotz. In addition, it will consist of Vietnamese authors such as Hai Anh, Nguyen Thanh Phong, Ta Huy Long, Nguyen Duy Hai, Than Trong Thanh Quynh, and Thierry Nguyen.
