Francophone Film Festival in Vietnam returns with seven-film selection

VOV.VN -The 16th Francophone Film Festival in Vietnam will feature seven films, continuing its role in promoting the French language and highlighting the cultural and linguistic diversity of the Francophone community.

The festival will take place in Hanoi from March 21 to 27 at the National Cinema Center and in Ho Chi Minh City from March 21 to 24.

Audiences will have the opportunity to watch a curated selection of seven films presented by the embassies of France, Switzerland, Canada, Haiti and the Dominican Republic, along with the Wallonie-Bruxelles Delegation and the Asia-Pacific Regional Office of the International Organisation of La Francophonie.

The films include Váy xanh dấu yêu (Le bleu du cattan), Cậu bé thần đồng (Vitus) from Switzerland, 6 ngày xuân năm đó (6 jours ce printemps-là) of the Wallonie-Bruxelles Delegation, Ảo thuật gia nhí (Croma Kid) of the Dominican Republic, Cuộc đua (Rodeo) of Canada, Ban nhạc diễu hành (En fanfare) of the French Institute in Vietnam, and Toussaint Louverture of Haiti.

This year’s programme presents a diverse selection of contemporary Francophone cinema, including emotional dramas, family stories, historical films and works for younger audiences.

All films will be screened in their original versions with Vietnamese subtitles, helping audiences to explore the richness of the French language and Francophone cultures through cinema.

Held on the occasion of International Francophonie Day on March 20, the festival forms part of a series of cultural activities promoting shared values, dialogue and diversity within the Francophone community.

The event is organised by GADIF, a group of Francophone embassies, delegations and organisations in Vietnam, with support from Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and partners involved in advancing Francophone cinema and culture.

Over the years, the festival has become a cultural event expected by audiences in Vietnam, attracting film enthusiasts, students and those interested in the French language.

The 16th edition is expected to bring new discoveries and shared experiences centred on Francophone cinema.
