Exhibition featuring Vietnam-Laos ties set to open in Dien Bien

VOV.VN - Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy has issued a decision on organizing an exhibition showcasing ties of solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Laos.

As a result of the decision, the Museum of the Cultures of Vietnam's Ethnic Groups has been assigned to host the exhibition.

The event will be held within the framework of the third cultural, sports, and tourism exchange festival, which is scheduled to take place in the northern province of Dien Bien ahead in September.

The purpose of the festival is to celebrate the 60th founding anniversary of diplomatic ties and 45 years since the signing of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation between the two countries.

Furthermore, it will also contribute to reinforcing the long-standing solidarity and comprehensive co-operation between the two nations, whilst simultaneously reaffirming the consistent Vietnamese policy of maintaining,  and boosting special ties with Laos.

Moreover, the event will also help to promote tourism potential and traditional cultures of ethnic minorities, thereby contributing to preserving ethnic identities.

As scheduled, approximately 2,500 people from nine Vietnamese provinces and 10 Lao provinces which share a border with the country will take part in the event.

The function will see a number of activities take place on the side of the event throughout the festival, including a traditional costume performance, and a music programme. This is in addition to an exhibition showcasing cultural products, tourism, images of Vietnamese people, as well as socio-economic achievements of some localities, a sports exchange, as well as a seminar on tourism development co-operation in border areas.

The opening ceremony of the festival will be broadcast live on VTV, VOV, and Dien Bien Radio – Television.
