Ethnic Minority Cultural Festival 2019 opens in Hanoi

VOV.VN - The Ethnic Minority Cultural Festival 2019 kicked off at the Culture and Tourism Villages of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups in Son Tay district, Hanoi, on April 19. The festival allows the full range of the nation’s cultural diversity to be put on display.
The four-day event has been organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism with the aim of celebrating Vietnam Ethnic Culture Day. The start of the festival coincides with the annual Ethnic Culture Day which takes place on April 19. |
Upon addressing the opening ceremony, Pham Van Quyen, deputy head of the management board of the Culture and Tourism Villages of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups, notes how the festival pays tribute to the culture of Vietnamese ethnic groups and allows solidarity to be boosted between people from all ethnic groups. |
The opening ceremony of the festival featured a diverse range of art displays performed by different ethnic groups from across the country. |
Local people and tourists gather together to enjoy an art performance from ethnic people from the Central Highlands. The melody songs they performed proved popular among the crowds. |
Traditions that are part of daily life for ethnic communities nationwide are put on display during the festival. |
Ede ethnic people from Dak Lak province display a gong performance. |
Traditional musical instruments of the Tay, Thai, and Muong ethnic groups are introduced to visitors. |
A wide range of activities will take place throughout the festival including folk games and the cooking of traditional cuisine. |
A photo exhibition featuring images of the daily lives of ethnic people will be showcased during the festival. |
The festival is set to run until April 21. |
