VOV.VN - The northern province of Dien Bien is set to hold the "Tinh Hoa Tay Bac" (Essence of the Northwest) Festival in Dien Bien Phu city during the National Day holiday (September 2), with the participation of various provinces and cities in Vietnam, as well as international artistic troupes.
This marks the first time the province hosts a large-scale cultural and tourism event of both regional and international significance.
The Dien Bien provincial People's Committee has announced a plan to organize this year’s event which will run over three days from September 2, coinciding with the National Day holiday.
The festival is expected to feature participation from eight expanded Northwest provinces, Ho Chi Minh City, Northern Laos, the city of Pu'er (Yunnan province, China), Saint Petersburg (Russia), Chiang Mai province (Thailand), and representatives from several embassies in Hanoi.
A string of cultural and tourism activities will take place during the festival, including, the "Essence of the Northwest" street festival, special art exchange programs with domestic and international art troupes, an art photo exhibition with the theme "Colors of the Northwest," performances of traditional ethnic musical instruments, folk songs, and dances, and a Northwest culinary festival.
The "Essence of the Northwest" Festival in 2025 is expected to become a flagship cultural and tourism event, showcasing the natural beauty, people, cultural identity, and tourism potential of Dien Bien province and the Northwest region to both domestic and international visitors. Moreover, this event will serve as an opportunity to promote cultural exchanges and bolster tourism cooperation between Vietnamese and localities. The festival is also seen as a chance for Dien Bien to achieve its goal of attracting about 1.5 million visitors this year.
