Deutschlandfest in Hanoi to mark 50 years of Germany - Vietnam diplomatic ties
VOV.VN - The Deutschlandfest (Germany Festival) will be held at Hanoi’s iconic Hoan Kiem Lake from October 17 to 19 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Germany and Vietnam.
Themed “Celebrating Joint Development Cooperation”, Deutschlandfest is among the flagship events in a series of year-long commemorations honoring the long-standing relationship between the two countries. It celebrates not only five decades of bilateral ties but also highlights the countries' evolving partnership in development cooperation.
The festival will officially open at 7:30 p.m. on October 17, at the Hoan Kiem lakeside near the Big Flower Clock on Dinh Tien Hoang Street. The opening ceremony will be attended by Helga Margarete Barth, German Ambassador to Vietnam, along with representatives from Vietnamese ministries, German institutions, international organisations, and development partners in Hanoi.
Around 40 German organizations and companies representing sectors such as development cooperation, private, sports, culture, and science will participate in the festival with a diverse and engaging programme.
“Over the past three decades, German development cooperation in Vietnam has grown alongside the country’s progress for the benefit of the Vietnamese people- from early support in social protection to today’s focus on global challenges such as climate change, energy transition, and sustainable growth,” emphasised Ambassador Helga Margarete Barth.
Following the opening night, Dinh Tien Hoang Street will become a lively pedestrian zone on October 18 and 19, with cultural performances, interactive booths, exhibitions, and culinary experiences that reflect the dynamic cooperation and cultural exchange between the two countries.
