DANAFF 2026 opens up co-production opportunities for Asian film projects

VOV.VN - The "Art-house Workshop & Project Market" programme, part of "Da Nang Asian Film Festival Talents 2026," has opened applications for feature film projects, offering opportunities for in-depth training and co-working among international film producers.

This year's programme is jointly organised by the Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF) in collaboration with several organisations and the French Institute in Vietnam, expanding networking and co-production opportunities for young filmmakers in the Asian region.

The programme comprises of two main categories. In the Southeast Asian category, selected projects will participate in the "PaS ASEAN Workshop" held in Da Nang from June 28 to July 4, and in Thailand in September. A key highlight of this process is the preparation for a co-production meeting with the French National Centre of Cinema (CNC) in Paris in 2026, offering filmmakers access to the European film network.

Meanwhile, the Asian category is for filmmakers from countries and territories outside the ASEAN region. Selected projects will join the "DANAFF Project Market" in Da Nang, where they will have the chance to receive feedback from a panel of experienced international experts, thereby enhancing the capacity of fundraising for film projects.

The programme targets fiction feature film projects in development with a confirmed producer and director or screenwriter attached. Eligible ASEAN countries include Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Timor-Leste, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, while the Asia category is open to countries and territories across the wider Asian region.

For film projects in Southeast Asian region, applications should be submitted via the programme's online registration link; projects outside ASEAN should send complete applications to the Organising Committee's email address. The deadline for applications is April 5. The official list of qualified projects will be announced in mid-May.

The fourth Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF IV), themed “Bridging Asia to the world,” is scheduled to take place from June 28 to July 4.

DANAFF IV will be jointly organised by the Da Nang municipal People’s Committee and the Vietnam Film Development Promotion Association (VFDA), with coordination from a wide range of domestic and international film institutions. The festival is intended to strengthen international film cooperation, promote Da Nang as a cultural destination, and support the development of Vietnam’s film industry.
