Da Nang inaugurates modern museum as cultural landmark by Han River

VOV.VN - On March 28, the Da Nang People's Committee inaugurated the Da Nang Museum, a modern facility renovated from the 125-year-old former City Hall that integrates advanced technology and is set to become a cultural landmark of the city.

Located at 42 Bach Dang street, the museum was originally the City Hall during the French colonial period. It has witnessed key historical milestones, including the event on March 29, 1975, when the flag of the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam was raised atop the building, marking the victory of the city's army and people in the resistance war against the US.

The museum currently houses nearly 3,000 selected artifacts from a collection of 27,000 historical items. Its exhibition space combines traditional displays with modern technology, including 3D mapping films, documentaries, and interactive slides, offering visitors an engaging experience. The museum features nine major thematic sections covering Da Nang’s urban history, natural and human landscapes, national defence struggles, integration and development, war remnants, cultural diversity, and collections of rare antiquities.

Da Nang People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh emphasized that the museum meets the standards of a modern institution, incorporating digital technology, scientifically arranged exhibition spaces, dynamic and interactive interpretation systems, and state-of-the-art storage facilities. The museum also includes an educational area for children and an open-access storage area for research and study.

Experts have recognized the museum as one of the most interactive cultural institutions in central Vietnam and the first in the country to apply AI technology in museum operations. Visitors can experience AI-powered kiosks that provide multilingual interpretations in ten languages.

A highlight is the automated guide robot, which can direct visitors through the museum, provide information about different areas, and assist with ticketing and storage services, thereby significantly enhancing the visitor experience.

Phan Thanh Tuan, CEO of AIAIVN, the company behind the AI applications at the museum, said "This is Vietnam’s first museum to integrate AI into guided tours and exhibitions. The robot does more than provide information and interacts with visitors, making their experience more immersive and convenient.

As part of the event, the Da Nang People's Committee also launched the construction of a statue of President Ho Chi Minh at the Da Nang General Science Library. The project includes landscape improvements, an outdoor reading space, and a 2.7-meter-high, 1.7-meter-wide statue made of white-gray marble.

Behind the statue, a bas-relief will depict the Khue Van Pavilion in the center, flanked by the iconic Ngu Hanh Son (Marble Mountains), a national special relic of Da Nang. The site is expected to become a significant cultural landmark, allowing locals and visitors to pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh when visiting the city.
