Brick Cave house of Hanoi to be showcased at French architecture exhibition

VOV.VN - “Nhà hang gạch” (Brick Cave house) by architect Doan Thanh Ha will represent Vietnamese architecture at the French exhibition The Biennale d'architecture et de paysage d'Île de France (BAP!) 2025, due to take place in Versailles from May 6 to July 13.

Being invited to the exhibition in Europe for the first time, Ha shares that the event will provide an opportunity for him to fulfil his long held ambition of spreading the architectural style of creating artificial structures in a natural way.

To highlight the challenges faced by cities in the context of climate change, the third edition of BAP! 2025 will have the theme of “The Living City” (La Ville Vivante).

Through pieces of work, architects will help audiences to take a closer look at new lifestyles and the way in which people live in cities in the context of global warming.

More than 40 architects will participate in four categories, including water, air, fire and earth, with each covering climate issues and their solutions.

Vietnamese architect Doan Thanh Ha has been invited to take part in the fire category.

The Brick Cave house, located in Dong Anh district on the outskirts of Hanoi, was built in 2007 and spans 300 square metres. It has two layers of porous brick walls that keep the house safe and is open to the outside world at all times.

The design has received many prestigious architectural awards, including a gold medal in the Architizer A+Awards in 2018 at Architizer.com which is a large online community of architects, as well as the winner of Archdaily Building of the Year Award 2019.
