Bollywood star Rane explores world’s largest cave in Vietnam
VOV.VN - Indian actor Harshvardhan Rane has become one of just 100 Indians to successfully complete the challenging Son Doong Cave Expedition in Vietnam - a journey through the world’s largest natural cave located in Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, Quang Binh province.

According to the Hindustan Times daily, Rane shared his achievement on Instagram, posting a series of photos from the adventure.
One striking image shows the actor shirtless inside the cave, wearing blue trousers and a safety helmet, highlighting the intense physical effort required for the expedition. Another photo features the medal and certificate he received for completing the trek.
In a heartfelt caption alongside a photo with his expedition guide, he wrote: “Amongst 100 Indians to ever complete this expedition! All thanks to this man in the last pic.”
Rane arrived in Vietnam on July 30 along with a Bollywood film crew to begin shooting the movie SILAA. The production marks the first Indian film to be shot inside Son Doong Cave, as well as other iconic sites in Quang Tri province. With a budget of US$4 million, SILAA is scheduled for global release in 2026 and aims to spotlight Vietnam’s stunning natural landscapes to international audiences.
Filming is taking place in Quang Tri from August 1 to 14, covering Son Doong Cave, Phong Nha, Tan Hoa, Tu Lan, and Tien Cave. The crew will then travel to other locations across Vietnam, including Cao Bang, Quang Ninh, Ninh Binh, Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City.
Vanita Omung Kumar, production designer, praised Vietnam’s scenic beauty and warm hospitality. She described filming in Son Doong as both a major challenge and a thrilling experience.
Producer Rahul Bali echoed this sentiment, noting his admiration for the majestic cave and the friendliness of the local community.
SILAA is expected to premiere in summer 2026 across 1,000 cinemas in India before reaching international screens. The film is projected to reach between 150 million to 300 million Indian viewers, offering a major opportunity to promote Vietnam's natural wonders on the global stage.
