BIGBANG concerts draw 220,000 visitors, generate VND750 billion for Hanoi

VOV.VN - The two-day performance by K-pop group BIGBANG on October 24-25 brought around 90,000 domestic and international spectators to My Dinh National Stadium, helping Hanoi welcome approximately 220,000 visitors and generate an estimated VND750 billion (US$29.5 million) in tourism revenue, according to the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The shows were part of the group's "BIGBANG 2026-2027 World Tour (XX: COSMOS)," scheduled to visit 19 cities with 33 performances, including Hanoi.

The Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism categorized the show as a major international cultural and entertainment event for 2026. The department noted that the program met public demand for cultural appreciation while generating positive spillover effects for local tourism, services, and the capital's image.

Department officials stated that the success of the event affirms Hanoi's potential and attraction in hosting international art performances, while setting higher requirements for management, organization, and safety at large-crowd events.

The program captured widespread attention from domestic and international public and media.

Figures released by the department on the afternoon of October 27 show that Hanoi welcomed nearly 220,000 tourists on October 23-24 alone, a 15.6% increase from the previous week, with international arrivals reaching around 67,900 visits.

Demand for transportation, shopping, dining, and accommodation rose significantly. Flight bookings to Hanoi on Trip.com jumped 74%, while travel searches for Hanoi on Traveloka quadrupled and occupancy rates at three- to five-star hotels in the area hit 75% to 100%.

Moving forward, Hanoi will continue to focus on improving management quality, coordination, and safety for residents and tourists during international cultural and art events. The city aims to full tap cultural resources to promote its cultural industry, building the capital into a professional, safe, civilized, and impactful destination for cultural and entertainment events.

In 2023, the BlackPink World Tour in Hanoi also drew a large number of visitors and achieved impressive revenue.

During the two days of BlackPink's tour at My Dinh National Stadium, around 170,000 visitors came to Hanoi, including over 30,000 international arrivals. About 65% of foreign visitors stayed overnight, mainly from China, the Republic of Korea (RoK), Japan, the US, the UK, France, India, Taiwan (China), and Australia.

During the two concert nights, hotels near the performance venue saw occupancy rates rise 20% compared to previous weekends, with many hotels and guesthouses fully booked on July 29. Room searches for Hanoi increased tenfold compared to the previous week, with average hotel occupancy in July reaching 60.8%. Total tourism revenue during the two concert days amounted to  approximately VND630 billion (US$26.6 million).
