Belarusian Bolshoi Theatre to stage opera and ballet shows in Vietnam
VOV.VN - A large-scale opera and ballet programme featuring nearly 100 artists from the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus will be staged in Vietnam for the first time at Ho Guom Opera on May 7–8, marking a significant cultural highlight in bilateral artistic exchange.
Titled “Bella Belarus: Masterpieces of Opera and Ballet,” the production presents a curated selection of European classical masterpieces, offering audiences an immersive experience likened to a vivid “panel painting” brought to life on stage.
The programme introduces renowned operatic excerpts, including iconic arias such as Nessun dorma (Giacomo Puccini), La donna è mobile (Giuseppe Verdi), and Habanera (Georges Bizet), alongside celebrated ballet pieces from Swan Lake and Don Quixote.
Beyond well-known European classics, the performance also highlights works reflecting Belarusian and Eastern European musical traditions, such as The Grey Legend, Iryna’s aria by Dmitri Smolsky, Romance by Georgy Sviridov, and O surdato nnammurato (music by Enrico Cannio, lyrics by Aniello Califano). This combination adds cultural depth and artistic nuance to the programme.
Founded in 1933, the Belarusian National Opera and Ballet Theatre is among the country’s oldest and most prestigious cultural institutions, long regarded as a cornerstone of Belarusian artistic heritage.
The upcoming performances are expected to deliver a rich, immersive experience, combining vocal excellence, orchestral depth, and refined choreography within the acoustically advanced setting of Ho Guom Opera.
