Ao Dai festival to return to Ho Chi Minh City

VOV.VN - The 10th Ao Dai (traditional long dress) festival is set to take place from March 7 to March 17 in Ho Chi Minh City with the function featuring a wide range of cultural activities, as announced by the event’s organisers at a press conference held on March 1 in HCM City.

The annual festival, which will be co-organised by the municipal Department of Tourism and Ho Chi Minh City Women’s Union, aims to promote the unique features of the traditional Vietnamese long dress whilst spreading love for the outfit.

Nguyen Hue walking street, Lam Son park, Ao Dai Museum, Youth Cultural House, and several other tourist destinations will serve as the venues of the event.

This year's Ao Dai festival will feature the participation of 30 Ao Dai designers from across the country, along with the companionship of 22 famous artists, singers, actors, and actresses in the role of ambassadors, according to Le Truong Hien Hoa, deputy director of Ho Chi Minh City’s Department of Tourism.

A wide range of activities will be held as part of the event, including an Ao Dai performance on Nguyen Hue walking street with around 5,000 participants, a seminar on the beauty of Vietnamese Ao Dai, and a beauty pageant.

In particular, a programme with the theme of "Ao Dai zero dong" will be organised with the goal of bringing joy to many poor workers and disadvantaged women who now have a chance to own the traditional dress.
