2,000 people perform yoga at summer festival

VOV.VN - A mass yoga performance witnessed the gathering of 2,000 people from 70 clubs nationwide, with the event taking place in Ha Long city in the northern province of Quang Ninh from May 25 to May 26 as part of the summer yoga festival.

The annual event aims to honour International Yoga Day on June 21, whilst simultaneously raising public awareness about health benefits associated with yoga.

During the two-day event, a broad array of activities were  launched, including yoga performances and yoga workshops aimed at providing a chance for yoga trainers to share knowledge and spread a message of health and high spirits among the community.

The UN General Assembly designated June 21 as International Yoga Day back in 2015 as part of an initiative put forward by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

International Yoga Day celebrations on June 21 in Vietnam have been going strong for nine years, thereby becoming an essential gathering for yoga practitioners throughout the country.
